This is to prevent spikes in the power supply that often come up with A/C power connections.Īssuming I power a small number of neopixels (say 32 max) from a 5v trinket, using the trinket's 5v output and ground, and I keep the total illumination of the neopixels to 75mA so it is safe to use the Trinket's 5v power, is it still recommended to add the capacitor? In this case, I would probably use a phone charger with USB output to power the trinket, but occasionally I might just use a 9v battery for a limited use (hence having the trinket do the voltage regulation). As I read the neopixel Uberguide, it recommends having the capacitor between the power/ground just before the connection to the neopixels. ![]()
